C–H Activation Catalyzed by Earth-Abundant Metals

نویسندگان

چکیده

This account describes our quest for controlling the reactivity of organoiron species, and developing an iron catalyst that can efficiently activate a C–H bond substrate possessing directing group, followed by reaction with nucleophiles (magnesium, zinc, boron, or aluminum reagents), electrophiles (alkyl halides, alkanol derivatives, allyl ethers, alkenes, alkynes, chloroamines), another (heteroarenes electron-deficient arenes). Our forays into activation using cobalt, manganese, chromium catalysis are also briefly discussed. journey in bond, nucleophiles, electrophiles, substrate. Forays presented.

Earth Abundant Element Type I Clathrate Phases

Earth abundant element clathrate phases are of interest for a number of applications ranging from photovoltaics to thermoelectrics. Silicon-containing type I clathrate is a framework structure with the stoichiometry A8-xSi46 (A = guest atom such as alkali metal) that can be tuned by alloying and doping with other elements. The type I clathrate framework can be described as being composed of two...

Preparation of rare earth metals

The production of over 400 grams of pure gadolinium metal by reduction of the anhydrous chloride by calcium in tantalum vessels is described; yields were over 97%. The use of the same techniques in an attempt to prepare yttrium metal were partially successful.

Molecules containing rare-earth atoms solely bonded by transition metals.

Although metal-metal bonding is important in the chemistry of both solid-state intermetallic compounds and molecular species, the study of this bonding is limited by the compounds available and it is rarely possible to identify connections between these two areas. In this study, molecular intermetalloids [Ln(ReCp(2))(3)] (Ln = Sm, Lu and La) have been synthesized that contain lanthanoid metals ...

Acceleration of nucleophilic CH activation by strongly basic solvents.

(IPI)Ru(II)(OH)(n)(H(2)O)(m), 2, where IPI is the NNN-pincer ligand, 2,6-diimidizoylpyridine, is shown to catalyze H/D exchange between hydrocarbons and strongly basic solvents at higher rates than in the case of the solvent alone. Significantly, catalysis by 2 is accelerated rather than inhibited by increasing solvent basicity. The evidence is consistent with the reaction proceeding by base mo...

Palladium-catalyzed oxidative CH/CH cross-coupling of pyridine N-oxides with five-membered heterocycles.

Using Ag2CO3 as an additive, we developed the Pd-catalyzed intermolecular C-H/C-H cross-coupling of pyridine N-oxides with five-membered heterocycles such as 1-benzyl-1,2,3-triazoles, thiophens and furans. This protocol provides an efficient and regioselective approach for the synthesis of unsymmetrical biheteroaryl molecules.
